Collection of short Supernatural Tales. The narrator of these tales is Taranath Tantrik, a mystic figure and practitioner of occult. He is an astrologer by profession and had many encounters with the weird in his extensive travels. He shares these experiences with a few friends in his Mott lane house over cups of tea and cigarettes. Taradas Bandyopadhyay's father, the legendary literati Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay created the character 'Taranath Tantrik', but he wrote only a couple of short stories featuring him. Those two tales are however not part of this collection.

আত্মা, পরকাল এবং ইতিবাচক ও নেতিবাচক শক্তি নিয়ে অতিলৌকিক বিভিন্ন ঘটনা নিয়ে রচিত হয়েছে অলাতচক্র, যার প্রধান চরিত্র তারানাথ। লোকে চেনে তারানাথ তান্ত্রিক নামে। তাঁর ভাষ্যে, তিনি কিছু অলৌকিক ক্ষমতার অধিকারী। যৌবনে দেশবিদেশ ঘুরে ঘুরে বিচিত্র সাধনা আর ব্যক্তিদের সংস্পর্শে এসে তিনি এসব ক্ষমতা পেয়েছেন। সেইসব অভিজ্ঞতা কখনো অভূতপূর্ব, কখনো ভয়জাগানো, কখনো মনোমুগ্ধকর। প্রৌঢ়ত্বে পৌঁছে সংসারজীবনে থিতু হয়েছেন তারানাথ, কিন্তু দুর্দম যৌবনের সেইসব দিনের কথা আজও তাঁর স্মৃতিজুড়ে। সেইসব অভিজ্ঞতার গল্পই তিনি বলে চলেন লেখক আর তার সঙ্গী কিশোরী-কে। গল্পগুলো বিশ্বাস বা অবিশ্বাসের ভার পাঠকের।
