Part of Series

Searching for a new home for herself and her younger sister, Dolly, Carrie Watson decided they should write to two Baggs, Wyoming, cattle ranchers seeking wives so they could live close to each other. Too bad the man she wrote to never responded. Annoyed with her potential husband’s disregard, and after being warned that part of Wyoming was outlaw country, Carrie decided against her and Dolly going there, even after the rancher writing to Dolly sent tickets for then both. Much to Carrie’s distress, Dolly, the little traitor, left a letter stating she fell in love with Jesse Hardin. She left a note saying she decided to marry him, and hoped Carrie would join her. Carrie had every intention of joining her sister—to save her from making a foolish mistake by marrying Jesse. After arriving in Baggs, Carrie learns Dolly departed with a man who claimed he was sent to bring her to her intended. She finds rancher and local sheriff, Devlin Anders preparing to ride out with Jesse and a posse to search for Dolly. She insists on going. Devlin, reluctantly accepted the sheriff job in order to track down the cattle rustlers plaguing the area. As for the mail order bride his friend, Jesse, lined up, when did he ever have time to reply to her letter? Next thing he knows, he’s called on to help search for Jesse’s missing bride. Just before they leave, the missing woman’s headstrong sister arrives. In spite of her plan to join the search, the posse manages to leave without her. Devlin’s posse tracks their quarry who is headed for outlaw country. If only Carrie did not insist on trailing behind…
