Damantin didn’t want to visit the Elf Kingdom. Who could blame him? Because of the misdeeds of a disgraced Äimite guard named Lord Jamarnid, the guard exterminated the Grey Clan 800 years ago. The clan’s scant survivors, including his father, Sharad, have lived in exile ever since. Spaulding makes the current clan leader Lord Adinjandanir a tempting offer: live in his palace alongside Damantin for one year as his honored guests. This is done in the hopes they will move to their ancestral lands for good. While Adinjandanir enjoys the kingdom, Damantin’s presence alarms Lord Garain, who is the current commander of the guard.
