Sixteen-year-old, nerdy Charlotte “Charlie” Jackson has been receiving daily anonymous notes. Even though at first Charlie is skeptical, she begins to appreciate the cute pickup lines and punny jokes and starts to think of the mysterious note writer as her only friend. When one day Charlie doesn't receive a note, she grows motivated to find her note writer and wants to figure out why they write her the uplifting notes. Despite her anxiety, Charlie befriends her main suspects as she narrows down her list of possible note writers, which leads to late-night phone calls, memorable sleepovers, and kisses from a boy who reminds her of the sea and the stars
