Amanda’s searching for her talent, besides fur and fangs. Magic definitely isn’t it. What about plants? Better figure out magical flora before the thorny green one eats a student. But class isn’t the only thing on her mind… Best friend Summer’s acting weird. Jackson might be crushing on her. And a magical mob boss has an offer for her she can’t resist. Amanda Coulier and her classmates are back at the Academy of Necessary Magic. Summer is over and sophomore year is kicking into high gear. Fewer rules means more freedom, but that can come with a price. Things are going missing from teachers’ offices and students are the prime suspects. Will Amanda be able to clear her friends? That’s not the only new twist this year. Did somebody flush their radioactive goldfish? A giant blue-fish-snake monster has been spotted in the swamp. Will Amanda rescue the strange creature or is it a dangerous weapon? A menace may be growing closer. Can the young shifter harness enough of her new-found magic to make a difference? Time to take a page out of Johnny’s book but it will require the help of her friends… as long as they don’t get caught. Her extracurricular activities weren’t supposed to interfere with school. Apparently, the Coalition can change the terms of their agreement at any time. Balancing schoolwork with secret assignments is getting harder and harder. She needs to tell her friends what’s going on and get their help. Even if she’s not supposed to… Can Amanda find an excuse to miss school not once, but twice?
