Ali's debut novel The Trivia Night, about a group of primary school parents who decide to partner-swap at a charity fundraiser, was published in February 2022 and became a global bestseller. She followed it up with The Running Club, set in the wealthy suburb of Esperance, where a group of friends sweat out their acrimony on the running track, until someone's resentment ultimately turns deadly.
