I am a physical anthropologist trained at Syracuse University and Duke University who most recently retired from a long career as a public administrator with the City of Tucson. I’ve published scores of articles about travel, culture, history, and the Southwest in the Tucson Weekly, Valley Guide Quarterly, Tucson Guide Quarterly and The New York Times. I was the author of the chapters on Tucson and Southern Arizona in Fodor’s Arizona guide and Fodor’s USA guide. My move to North Carolina and observation of the changing physical and social landscape inspired the DEADLY mysteries that contrast the old and new South, family tensions and the need to belong. The new BERKSHIRES COZY Series debuts in September 2021 with Aggie Burnside, a young nurse and amateur sleuth trying to figure out who done it in 1930s Massachusetts. I love reading, being outside, walking, growing herbs and observing the nature of humankind.
