Anna Kahill is a writer, trauma survivor, and neurodivergent mother from Northern Ireland. A trained pharmacist and late-diagnosed autistic woman, she brings both lived and professional insight to her debut memoir Not the Perfect Victim. The book traces the long shadow of unreported and unacknowledged rape, and the many missed opportunities—by professionals, systems, and herself—to recognise it, name it, and diagnose the resulting PTSD. With unflinching honesty, Anna explores the complex intersections of trauma, neurodivergence, and justice, confronting the failures of the criminal justice system firsthand, including the experience of reporting a non-recent rape to the Police Service of Northern Ireland. Since publication, her work and advocacy have been featured across multiple outlets, including The Belfast Telegraph, Armagh I, Books Ireland, Women Writers, Women’s Books, and Writing.ie, as well as regional features in Local Women Magazine and The Newry Democrat. Through her writing and public engagement, Anna continues to support Advocacy VSV—the Northern Ireland–based organisation that supported her through her own justice journey and now helps others impacted by sexual violence. Anna aims to open conversations about trauma, neurodiversity, and systemic reform, amplifying the voices of survivors who are too often unheard.
