The weight of wartime is heavy, but through reinvention and redemption two people may discover the power of love and God’s forgiveness. In the years following the Civil War, Anna Heartfield looks as though she’s lived the typical life of a Southern belle. Under the surface, she has a dangerous secret that could ruin her family and turn friends into enemies. This secret, a web of clandestine activities she was forced into during the war, haunts her every step. She longs for forgiveness, redemption, and a fresh start. Her only choice seems to be to marry, relocate, and escape her past clandestine activities before someone discovers the truth. When she hears about a matchmaker up north, the woman seems to be the answer to her prayers. She writes to her and begins corresponding with a potential suitor. The quiet and serious Ezra “Ez” Walters is a widower with a young daughter. He is immediately captivated by Anna’s intelligence and outgoing demeanor, sensing there’s more to her than meets the eye. However, he fears the dark truth about his late wife could drive her away. As their connection deepens, Anna is torn between protecting her family’s reputation and the gnawing conviction to be completely honest with Ez. She wrestles with whether she can trust him with the secrets she has never shared with anyone, a decision that could change the course of their relationship. A mysterious figure from her past resurfaces, threatening to destroy her family and her new relationship. Working through the resulting fallout could spell disaster for their blossoming love or prove they can overcome anything.
