During 2002, Linda France and Birtley Aris visited one favourite place in North East England every month. They were interested in ordinary, less well-known spots as well as more obvious landmarks; the surprising uncontained spaces in towns and cities as well as the rural environment. From these visits, ‘wild’ was born and published in 2004. In 2014, they revisited ‘wild’, resulting in ‘another wild’. With a refreshed cover and design, France and Aris have added eight new poems and pictures. The work here is possibly more domesticated, though still free-range and organic, consistent with first ‘wild’s’ spirit of sharpening our sense of location, perspective and capacity for reflection.
