Anthony Lowery is a playwright, screenwriter, author and film critic. He studied scriptwriting at the University of Kent under the tutorship of BAFTA-nominated writer-director Clio Barnard, and he now strives to carve his own niche as a storyteller. Often referred to as a young Martin McDonagh, Anthony is fast growing a reputation for his dark and poetically sinister storytelling. In July 2016, Anthony's debut play 'The Pendulum Swings' premiered at The Place Theatre to a full standing ovation and obtained five-star acclaim across the board. Hailed as 'one of the best plays to visit the venue', the production returned by popular demand for a second smash hit run in 2017. 'The Man in My Footsteps' is a thrilling novella of the darker, more disturbing kind and is Anthony's first book. His acclaimed works has attracted the attention of various news and media outlets such as the BBC, as well as prestigious literary festivals (see Events for upcoming appearances), while earning him the admiration of highly established industry peers. With five years’ experience of entertainment journalism craft – two at senior editorial level – Anthony has grown into a reputable film critic, contributing at Empire Magazine while holding resident positions at various regional print publications. He resides in Bedfordshire, England.
