April Martin Beltz was born in Colorado. She lived on a small farm with one cow, several horses, lots of sheep, dogs and six brothers and sisters. April moved to Los Gatos, California, when she was nine. Her current book, "Letters Across The Pacific" is written using her parents letters to each other across time and distance. They were mostly separated by war the first ten years of their marriage so their relationship was fully based on communication through mail. You can vividly be present as they grow up, have babies, and deal with loneliness, sadness and also joy. The letters are like time capsules. We learn the slang of the times and the military jargon. It takes you back to a time of great tragedies but also a time of great hope. An uplifting story and a must read. Her first book, "All About Ilyas" was published in 2018. It is the story of their own foster son (now their adopted son) and his journey through the foster system, the community and their family. April Martin Beltz currently resides in San Diego with her five children and four (and counting) grandchildren nearby.
