Art Smukler was born and raised in Philadelphia, attended Penn State University (majoring in pre-med and creative writing), Drexel School of Medicine, U of P, and UCLA. Board-certified in psychiatry, he treated adults and adolescents, and ran an award-winning psychotherapy conference for UCLA psychiatric residents. He now resides in Los Angeles and writes full-time. He can't help smiling when Philadelphia is blanketed in snow; though he misses Fall and Spring, mustard pretzels, Philly cheese steaks, and wandering around Little Italy with his brother.
