Asher doesn’t like people, and people don’t like him. He’s cool with that—all he needs from them is sex, anyway. But when he’s suddenly thrust into a strange and dangerous world filled with magical creatures, joining forces with other people may just be the only way to survive. It’s not all bad though—in this new world, he can turn into a fire-breathing dragon! Which would be awesome if it weren’t for José, the pesky fire elf sharing his fate whose goal in life seems to be to stop Asher from ever having fun. Somehow, Asher has to show José that he’s more than a sex-obsessed pyromaniac with no filter between his brain and mouth. Preferably before either of them ends up dead. Three weeks after the events in Altasia, nightmares come to plague Asher. His only defense against them seems to be José, but Asher is struggling with José’s determination to shoehorn them into a relationship. If he’s being honest, he isn’t quite sure what José hopes to get out of a relationship with him besides sex. His problems don't end there, though. Strange things begin to happen in Riverside. Suddenly the bond is back, José's sister falls into a coma, and to top it all off, someone sets fire to Asher's house—and it isn't Asher. Somehow, this world and the other one are related, and if Asher wants to keep shit from hitting the fan, he needs to figure out how. There’s no time to worry about love, but ignoring it might be his worst mistake ever.

Asher and José are nearing their first Christmas together, but they can't agree on how the holiday should be celebrated—or whether it should be celebrated at all. Asher doesn't have the best memories of Christmas growing up and he doesn't look forward to spending the day with his boyfriend's family. Besides, he needs to put in more time at work to be able to afford the perfect gift for José, even if José doesn't seem to be happy about this turn of events at all. With the two of them fighting, Christmas doesn't look like it's going to be a happy holiday. But if they realize what it is they really need from each other, they might still be able to turn things around.
