The Road
2016
When a tragedy forces the kids to leave the Mountain Place, no one needs to reach safe haven more than Amy. On an arduous road trip through the wilds of a strange and dangerous new world, she emerges as a determined and forceful leader-who will not tolerate debate or complaint. But as softer feelings begin between Amy and Nester, Amy faces the uncomfortable choice of opening her heart to choose love... or shutting down her humanity forever. PRAISE FOR The Road Written from the perspective of teenagers, the series relates a story of brutality, kindness and caring. Bonds develop between unlikely teenagers the transcend life as we know it to bring out the best and worst of each of them after an apocalyptic disaster. Well worth the read... This author is a wonderful story teller and the action never stops. You don't know who will live and who will die so you stay up too late so you can finish the book! Best series I have read in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed every line.

The Mountain
2017
Elise brings the Ashes, Ashes series to a close narrating the young survivors final journey from Survivors City into the great unknown in search of safety and place to call home.Long ago, Liam made a to take Elise "home"—back to her native country in Central America. The hope of returning there seemed impossible but now, with the horror of life in "civilization" far too real, Elise's mountain village seems like the only sanctuary left on earth—if it survived and if the remaining kids can reach it with their bond of connection to each other in place. As the effects of fighting to stay alive in a nuclear wasteland begin to take their toll, Elise comes of age with doubts about her faith in humanity, in love and the price of survival.PRAISE for THE MOUNTAINAs always, the author holds no punches. There is nothing pretty or fluffy about the aftermath of nuclear war. In fact, I think this is probably the most realistic of all the post-nuclear war books I've read, and I have read a lot of them.A wonderful, beautiful story in each book.Fell in love with the characters in the books and cried more than a few times. Read all six books in 3 days. Grimly realistic, but oddly uplifting in many ways.
