Avery grew up in California’s San Joaquin Valley, with easy access to San Francisco, Yosemite National Park and the vineyards of Napa Valley. She is married to her best friend, the love of her life. They have two sons and eleven grandchildren. After hanging up her real estate shingle they moved to Arizona, a border state where she was inspired to write her first book, The Secret Room.
