B MacGregor is the fourth son of five boys. Born and raised in Iowa, he was influenced by his father, a community college administrator and counselor, in his pursuit of academics, and his mother, a librarian, in his pursuit of story-telling. Upon receiving his doctorate degree in Sociology at Iowa State University in the early 1990’s, he enjoyed teaching at universities and colleges for several years. During his tenure as a professor, his research included several pieces of authorship, ranging from his dissertation to numerous scientific articles printed in prominent sociological and psychological journals. Some of his studies were cited by various professors continuing his pioneering research in the study of gay and lesbian violence and adolescent self-esteem. His work has also been noted by prestigious institutions like the US Supreme Court as citations supporting evidence advancing national policy decisions. He pursued a path in the private sector, serving as a technology consultant for mortgage systems. In the flush of 2008, he found an amazing opportunity through a series of unfortunate financial events. During this period of reflection, he rediscovered a passion for writing and now refuses to stop. When speculating on his drive, imagination and creative influences, he casually remarks, “the stories write themselves. I do not outline or take notes. I simply type.” The author is most comfortable writing and gardening. The small communities he has called home are fictionally represented in many of his works, as are some of his greatest small town heroes and villains. He also loves to travel. Destinations including New Orleans, the Iowa Mississippi River Valley, and Key West feed his passion for writing. His greatest sources of inspiration are his partner for the past two decades, his canine companion and his publisher. “They encourage me—in everything I attempt.”
