A story about the power of getting to know something foreign to you and how to protect it. The world tells you to always be wanting more. But it never tells you who to look for. Myron sold his video game company for 100 million dollars. That was the bad part… Strong-armed into a deal that cost him is company, Myron realizes a lifestyle of immense wealth isn't all it's cracked up to be. His fortune and fame rapidly spiral into isolation and despair, with panic attacks and anxiety igniting a depression he’s not sure he can overcome. He uses his millions of dollars and his new found free time to build a companion—to help him reboot his life—a humanoid robot named Bao who appears like any other white man walking the streets of San Francisco. As it turns out, Bao is as stubborn as Myron's anxiety. It seems he only wants to speak Chinese. Meanwhile, Myles' former employer, who coaxed him into parting with his company, wants his new invention for themselves. And is willing to track down and take away Bao at any cost. Stuck with a new friend he can program but can't communicate with, Myron teaches Bao how to act human, while Bao teaches Myron the meaning of humanity. They travel from Chinatown to China. One of them escaping to a new home. The other striving for comfort in their new place. To save his life from panic attacks and anxiety, all Myron needed to do was to build another. And he's not going to give up this new life without a fight.
