When David Cross meets Matthew Freeman at the site of Bear Town's tragic fire, he didn't think the annoying reporter was anything at all. That's when his inner bear let him know that the human was destined to be his. Matthew has never been around shifters in any way that is pleasant when he moves to Bear Town. It is David that has to teach him that not all bear shifters are abusers.
