Sir Bernard Ledwidge KCMG (9 November 1915 – 20 February 1998) was a British diplomat and writer. Ledwidge served as the British Ambassador to Finland from 1969 to 1972 and the British Ambassador to Israel from 1972 to 1975. Ledwidge also served as the Chairman of the United Kingdom Committee for UNICEF from 1976 to 1989. Ledwidge published his first book, a novel based on his experience in India, called "Frontiers" in 1979 and later translated into French under the title Frontières. He also wrote a biography of Charles de Gaulle in 1983, which was also translated into French. In 1984 he published De Gaulle et les Americains, in French, which was based largely on material in US archives. His next work was Sappho, la première voix de femme in 1987, which was also published solely in French. Alongside his second wife, French write Flora Groult, he continued to write until his health deteriorated. Ledwidge died in London in 1998.
