Bertil Malmberg (* 22. April 1913 in Helsingborg, † 8. October 1994 ) was a Swedish Phoneticians, linguist and general linguists. Malmberg studied in Lund, Grenoble and Paris . He received his doctorate in 1940 in Lund with the publication of Le roman du comte de Poitiers. Poème français du XIIIe siècle (Lund 1940). From 1950 to 1969 he occupied at the University of Lund the newly created Department of Phonetics, from 1969 ibid the Department of General Linguistics. In 1947 he founded with Stig Wikander the journal Studia Linguistica . He was Associate Editor of the International Review of Applied Linguistics (IRAL). Malmberg was honorary doctor of the Sorbonne and a member of the Legion of Honor.
