Beth Montgomery grew up on the outskirts of Melbourne. She studied horticulture and later became a Secondary School science and English teacher. She taught in the Pacific for seven years. She currently lives in rural Victoria with her husband and three children. Her first novel, The Birthmark, was shortlisted for the Gold Inky, the State Library of Victoria's Teenage Choice Book Award. Her second novel, Murderer's Thumb has been translated into German under the title Den Tod in Der Hand.
