Bil Dwyer was a nationally syndicated comic strip artist in the 1930’s and 1950’s. He was a graduate of Yale, as well as, a writer, publisher and farmer. He also helped Disney Studios direct Bambi, Pinocchio, and Fantasia. After leaving careers in Hollywood and New York he settle in North Carolina with his wife Louise where he studied southern euphemisms and started the Merry Mountaineers publishing company. Dwyer passed away on December 13, 1987, in Highland, North Carolina.
