Blake is Angel Rosen's second collection of poetry, following its sister collection, Aurelia. Blake touches on some of the same themes as Aurelia, such as the obligation of womanhood, and taking up space, but it speaks from a more definite place. Angel Rosen has faced mental illness and suicidality from an early age, and uses poetry to externalize the complexities of that experience. Blake articulates the reality of depression but also pauses to consider the joys of unconventional friendship and found family. This collection seeks to showcase Angel's experiences as a neurodivergent person with mental illness who has spent nearly three decades just trying to feel understood. These poems came from a place of necessity: the desire to be seen, the need to be believed, and the hope that we can all be held through our darkest times. From Round One... "Laughter is only one letter different from slaughter. One typo later, God laughs. I’m cut in half. Next round."
