Park Ranger, Orson is delighted with the news that the peacock colony of Boonta has been moved to safety. Unfortunately, another shifter species, one which once lurked in the dark forests, comes to the bayous of Boonta in order to survive. The forests no longer able to support them due to colonisation and the slave trade. But such a move will make the colony, a group of (Tasmanian) Devil shifters, become known to the Schism. What's more, Orson's lover, Arcturus is amongst them. A wise and powerful leader, Arcturus is left with no choice but to lead his people to a fate worse than death. Will becoming slaves be the colony's only chance of survival? Or will they need someone special to help them? Someone like Orson, before they too become nothing but legend.
