The author reels you in and you feel everything! You can just see the smoke of gunpowder hanging over the battles, you could feel Ike Adams' hatred. I could say so much more, but "Spring Will Come" (book #3) has finished downloading. I must continue with this absolutely phenomenal series! Review: This is the second book in the Bregdan Chronicles and in my opinion, the series just keeps getting better! I’m not usually a fan of a series, but I’m hooked on this one. The individuals from the first book just keep getting more stimulating. Their storyline, as well as their characters, keep evolving. Add to that, the introduction of new individuals and scenarios and you have the recipe for a book that you can’t put down. Again, this book comes with a high recommendation from me. The destruction and the loss of life is horrendous and is hard to read. Unimaginable how much suffering went on for the troops. At the same time we follow the lives of the characters we've come to know. All their stories being played out in this period of time of trying to survive. The war has caused them to learn lessons about themselves and how they interact with others. For some it is extremely hard to face what they learn. I highly recommend this series. The storyline is strong and not to be ignored. The characters are very easy to get attached to.

I could tell you the characters are so wonderfully written that you cheer them on and scold them at the same time. I could tell you that you become so engrossed in every facet of these books that your imagination allows you to "feel" everything the author is trying to convey. I could tell you that you lose all track of time while reading these books. It's "one more chapter" until about 3 am! I could tell you all this and so much more. However, the most important thing I should tell you is to buy this series of books. You won't be sorry!!! Review: Book 4 finished and I can't wait to get started on number 5! I LOVE historical fiction and this one is loaded with history. Ginny makes me feel like I am living through this part of history with the characters that I have grown to love. So much better than a History book! The Bregdan Chronicles have also challenged me to think about humanity more compassionately and with more understanding. In this one, book #8 in the series, it is just after the Civil War has ended and even though slavery was abolished, the South will not accept that their way of life is gone forever. Some of them are still trying to hold onto to the old way of life no matter what the cost. Which makes living in the south dangerous for all blacks or anyone who stands with the blacks. We, once again, follow Carrie Cromwell Borden, on her journey through life and the amazing things this woman accomplishes. If you are a person who enjoys reading about the Civil War Era, I think you will love this book. At times, throughout the reading of this series, the politics were a bit daunting for me, but the politics are necessary for one to know what is happening in the country at the time. It is my opinion that Ginny Dye is a genius at being a writer. It is so very obvious that she's had to put hundreds, if not thousands, of hours into research in order to write this magnificent series The Bregdan Chronicles. It is the very best account of life in the south before, during, and after the Civil War that I have ever read. I just hate that I must wait another year before reading book# 9. Review: This is the #8 of a 9 book series dealing with the lives and horror of the Civil War. I have never been so emotionally involved with books as I have with the Bregdan Chronicles. When I read Bregdan Chronicles, I always feel as though I am a valued part of Carrie, Robert, Abby, Thomas, Rose, Moses, Annie, and so many others lives. I feel I am a part of their unique family. I enjoy laughing and crying with them. I rejoice in their joys and mourn with their sorrows. I worry with them regarding their concerns and fears. It is hard for me to accept that they are fictional characters because Ginny writes in such a way that I feel each person is real. Since I began the series a while ago, when old characters returned to Cromwell Plantation, I struggled with remembering their place in the story. I appreciate the way that Ginny quickly incorporates clues and memories in the discussions to help me remember them from the past. Just like at a family reunion, I am reminded about the person and how they fit into my memory of them. While readying ALWAYS FORWARD I felt like I was at a family reunion - where we get to share our joys, sorrows, pain, despair, acceptance, and above all LOVE with one another.
