My first book (available in kindle or paperback format) is The Manner of Amy's Death Amy Robsart was the wife of Robert Dudley, son of the Duke of Northumberland, and Tudor high-flyer. She went from relatively humble and obscure beginnings as the daughter of a country squire and landowner in Norfolk to a society wedding in the presence of the King (Edward VI) and a life of wealth at the royal court. She and Robert married for love but three years later her husband was a key figure in the plot to put Lady Jane Grey on the throne of England after Edward's premature death. The plot was a failure, Northumberland was executed and Robert and his brothers were imprisoned in the Tower of London, where Amy was eventually allowed to visit him. She remained supportive throughout, despite the drastic diminution of their finances. So what went wrong with their marriage? And why was Amy found, just a few years later, at the bottom of a short flight of stairs with her neck broken and severe head injuries? Her death was a scandal which reverberated around the royal courts of Europe especially as it was rumoured that the young Queen Elizabeth, newly crowned, was waiting for Amy to die in order to marry Robert Dudley, the love of her life. The story is controversial and a good read! I hope you enjoy it. My background is that of a teacher (initially) of English and history, a computer network manager and (now) retired country dweller.
