My husband adopted a six-month-old filly named Maple, aka “Princess Whinny,” she brought joy and a challenge. She opened locks and gates and wandered off, searching for adventure. My senior horse, Lady Holly, became Princess Whinny’s best friend, protecting her from the other horses. Watching Princess Whinny grow into a proud and beautiful horse, I wondered what it would be like if a brave princess were disguised as a horse. That thought inspired my novel about a princess who becomes a horse and saves a kingdom.
