Born a prairie girl, raised a west coast kid, dragged off to Ontario as a young teen, Casey learned early a love of place and a desire for travel. Being raised Catholic gave her an interest in the roots and rituals of diverse religions; being one of nine kids precipitated an interest in the abnormal workings of the mind and heart. Casey's mother left all sorts of books around: Les Miserables, Taylor Caldwell's Devil's Advocate, Tom Swift and His Jetmarine... It was inevitable that her literary tastes, and therefore her stories, would be diverse and sometimes antithetical.
