I've been a writer nearly all my life. When I was in the 7th grade, my poems were published in my junior high school's literary journal. So were everyone else's, but when you're 12 years old, that's still pretty cool. Then I discovered Star Trek: The Next Generation and there began a life-long crush on Wesley Crusher. I was an equally avid reader, and was crushed to discover that Wesley was not featured in any of the ST:TNG books. Therefore, I took it upon myself to write the first Wesley-centered novel. It, unfortunately, died along with the little Brother word processor on which I typed. I'd give anything to read that tome again... I fell off the wagon when I decided to become a famous astrophysicist. However, my first college calculus course cured me of that right away! I got my undergraduate degree in technical communication. It was the perfect melding of my two loves: science and writing. I've been a technical communicator ever since, whether I was documenting software, designing reference CDs or websites, marketing products, or training users. When I'm not writing, I suffer from acute hobby addiction, which includes (but is not limited to!) reading, jewelry making, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, cross stitching, and home DIY. I live in Houston with my geeky husband and adorably neurotic black Lab named Luna. I come from a long line of Texan farmers who are likely rolling over in their graves knowing I'd much rather stay blissfully air-conditioned than suffer outside in the Texas heat.
