Crowchanger
2013
For centuries, the conquering Irenthi have ruled Chandris—the island where a race of shape-changers draw on a mountain’s energy to enable their abilities. Sylas belongs to the oppressed Chesammos race, destined to a life of poverty in Chandris' ash desert. But he has one way out; he can shape-change. Or at least, he shows the signs. After a year of studying, changing still eludes him, and his masters grow frustrated at his lack of progress. On the brink of being sent back to digging for gems in the volcanic vents of the ash desert, the changers’ most notable healer offers him an apprenticeship. He can’t miss this opportunity, though it means leaving his ambitious and possessive lover behind. But trouble is brewing. Sylas’s usually peaceful Chesammos race are in revolt. His lover is an Irenthi, Sylas' hated oppressors. And the shape-changers are caught in the middle of the conflict, wanting to support the Chesammos, yet in too vulnerable a position to challenge the Irenthi. Sylas will be seen as a traitor whatever he chooses: to his king; to his lover; to his people. As conflict approaches he must decide: Is he Chesammos or shape-changer, or will he take the third path and choose his Irenthi lover over everything? Crowchanger is the first novel about the bird-changers of Chandris. Volume 2, Stormweaver, will be published in late Spring/early Summer of 2014.

Stormweaver
2014
Her people gone, the Lady grows angry. The destruction of the shapechangers’ stronghold left few alive. Sylas survived. He’s not proud of how. His former lover Casian, who planned the destruction, lies and murders his way towards the throne. Bound to him by love and obsession, Sylas must cast off Casian’s influence and learn to live with his own dark secrets. He uncovers renegade changers who look to him for leadership, but the Lady—the mountain that gives the changers their abilities—is erupting. Bringing the changers home would help absorb her energies, but it may be too little, too late. The Chesammos tell of the stormweaver, whose powers calm the Lady. Sylas must discover the truth behind the children’s tale if he hopes to save his island and his people.

Sylas channelled the Lady's energies to save his home, but only at huge personal cost. The aiea that gave him a prized talent also ripped from him the ability he cherished most. He struggles to come to terms with its loss. As Chandris recovers from the effects of Eurna's eruption, rebuilding work on the city of Banunis and the changers' stronghold at the Aerie stretches the island's resources. Old resentments are brewing. Chandris' succession remains in doubt, and in this time of hardship and uncertainty the possibility of revolt once more rears its head. When Sylas is forced to revisit old relationships, long-held beliefs about his past are challenged. Painful memories must be put to rest if he is to aid House Banunis and take his place among the changers. This is the third novel in the Changers of Chandris series. The previous titles are Crowchanger and Stormweaver.
