Christie Nelson is a Marin County novelist. Born and raised in San Francisco, her most treasured childhood possession was her West Portal library card. As a teenager, she traveled by walking, riding buses, streetcars, and cable cars, inhaling the scents of the street, watching the people, and inventing stories. She graduated from Dominican University where the beauty of Marin County and the majesty of Mt. Tamalpais instantly captivated her. She and her husband live in the Brewmeister’s house of the former San Rafael Brewery, circa 1880. Her two novels, Woodacre and Dreaming Mill Valley, and limited edition memoir, My Moveable Feast, reflect her fascination and love of place. Her historical novel, "Beautiful Illusion, Treasure Island, 1939," is a homage to her beloved hometown. One part of her wanted to travel, another part wanted to dance, and yet another part wanted to write. In the end, they each won out.
