This book is a factual account of the prosecution and conviction of former Stanford student Brock Turner, the campaign against the judge in the case (Judge Aaron Persky), and the ongoing misrepresentations that have been presented in traditional and social media from the outset and continue to this day. Based on a careful review of the trial transcripts, copies of original documents, detailed timelines, screenshots, and over 300 endnotes with sources, the book shows that Turner should never have been prosecuted for, let alone convicted of, the crimes he was charged Turner’s DNA was not found on Chanel Miller nor on her clothes.Stanford police appear to have gotten rid of essential and likely exculpatory evidence, and then misrepresented what happened.Witnesses regularly contradicted one another and even changed their own testimony. The District Attorney and prosecutor engaged in serious misconduct. The jury was not allowed to hear critical evidence, and what they did hear was often misrepresented. There are numerous questions about the sensationalized statement Ms. Miller read at Turner’s sentencing.Judge Persky adopted the sentencing recommendations of the county professionals who are charged with that task, and for that his career was destroyed and the impartiality and independence of judges throughout California were seriously undermined.
