Jonah Jameson's editorials slamming him as a menace makes it hard to find work. Spider-Man vs. the Chameleon! The criminal Chameleon breaks into a military building dressed as Spider-Man to steal missile plans. He is confronted by security officers who place the crime on Spider-Man.

"Duel to the Death with the Vulture" A new criminal dressed as a vulture is terrorizing New York City. J. Jonah Jameson wants pictures for an article in NOW magazine. Peter decides that if he can take pictures of the Vultures, he could sell them to JJJ to help out his Aunt May. "The Uncanny Threat of the Terrible Tinkerer" Peter's teacher recommends him as a science assistant to Professor Cobwell. While on an errand for the Professor, his spider-sense detects a weird trace of radiation at the shop and from the radio he has just picked up.

Atomic scientist Dr. Otto Octavius was was given the name the name Doctor Octopus by his peers due to the four remote-controlled "arms" he had created. During an experiment, an explosion caused the arms to be fused to his body. He could now control the mechanical arms with his mind. Now on the verge of insanity, Dr. Octopus begins his criminal career.

When Spider-Man spots three would-be burglars casing a jewelry store, he tries to stop them. Afterward he's called a menace by the police. Later, Spidey sees another opportunity to help law enforcement when he sees the police chasing the Sandman, a criminal at large.

Dr. Doom hears a J. Jonah Jameson's news broadcasts regarding the menace of Spider-Man. Jameson offers a $1,000 reward to anyone that can disclose his true identity. Dr. Doom had just recently been defeated by the Fantastic Four and thinks that Spider-Man would make an excellent ally for revenge against the FF. Dr. Doom sends a message to Spider-Man through his spider senses which leads to an explosive meeting!

Face-to-Face with the Lizard From the Everglades, there are strange reports. Something that looks part-lizard, part-man has attacked some locals. Spider-Man hears about him through the Daily Bugle and answers a challenge by the paper to take him down!

The Return of the Vulture After being released from prison, Spider-man must do battle with the high-flying Vulture!
