Cory Sheldon grew up between the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Akron, Ohio (an industrial curiosity, formerly the nation's fastest growing city). After graduating with an industrial design degree, he spent several years designing tires, directing films, and creating a movie theater. While teaching film and design at a local college, he decided to write his first novel, which turned into his first series: Valley of Progress.
