
After the death of her parents, Martha has spent the last few years in her uncle’s brutal care. When she loses pieces of her prized treasure in a flight to escape her uncle’s rage, she finds kindness from a goblin who should be her enemy. She is even more surprised when the goblin becomes her friend. Never in all her imaginings would she guess he is in the grips of a curse. Garik has always tried to see his life in a ray of light, but when he goes to help a nymph friend rid her home of a trespassing witch, Garik finds himself cursed into a goblin form in a land at war with goblins. With the curse binding his tongue, Garik begins to lose hope that he will ever be an elf again if he is unable to explain his dark circumstances. Injured and disoriented, Garik must put his trust in Martha, a human girl so shy she barely speaks. However, as the days pass, he realizes Martha’s need is much greater than his and decides to stay with her in hopes of lightening her burdens. After such a long life without Devotion, can Garik not only find friendship with Martha…but love as well? Can Martha find the courage to trust and love a goblin…or the elf Garik turns out to be?
