D. W. Udell was born in South Bend, Indiana. He received a B.A. in History from Grand Valley State University. Once a proud Marine, he is a failed fruit peddler, a daysleeper, nightripper, fast mailman, slow biker, schmaltzy songwriter, comic lover, missing Californian, National Park enthusiast, bad guitarist, Chicago dreamer, decent hiker, carnivorous reader, C college student, a historian and reticent raconteur, science advocate, church antagonist, a curious google Cat, Queen fan girl, sports fanatic, pizza fiend, pasta lover, occasional substitute teacher, Led head, terrible pianist, and now perhaps a poor writer? Saturdays are for Notre Dame tailgates. You probably won’t be able to find him otherwise, the rest of his time is spent riding through the Michigan hollers, back roading his red boogie bike until a new story surfaces. “Where’s that confounded bridge?” The Stories of Cody Bill is Udell’s publication debut.
