
Dana L. Mitra is Professor of Education Policy Studies at the Pennsylvania State University. She is founding editor of the International Journal of Student Voice and Editor of The American Journal of Education. Dana also works with faculty as a coach focused on academic leadership, writing productivity, and moving through the tenure process She is a certified life coach through the International Coaches Federation and trained by the Coaches Training Institute. Dana has published over 50 papers and four books on the topics of the intersection of human development and organizational change. She has a book entitled, Civic Education in the Elementary Grades: Promoting Engagement in on Era of Accountability from Teacher's College Press. She also recently published a textbook in 2022—Educational Change and the Political Process with Routledge Press. Dana holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Educational Administration and Policy Analysis and a master's degree from Stanford University in Sociology, focusing on Organizational Theory. She has served as a Fulbright-Nehru Scholar in 2012 to study youth participation and educational reform in Bangalore, India. She served as a Students at the Center "Distinguished Fellow" with Jobs For the Future/the Nellie Mae Foundation.
