In a post-apocalyptic world where the atmosphere is nearly devoid of oxygen, a pocket of viable air called the Ark slides over the earth’s surface supporting the last remnant of humankind. Generations of survivors organized in a low-tech, nomadic community are forced to move as the Ark moves to avoid being passed over and left suffocating outside. Every new landscape is a challenge, taxing the resolve and resources of the people. It is a time of arranged marriages and aggressive population control when an elitist government manipulates the lives of Community under the guise of preserving the human race. Hope is in short supply, and although the priests speak of the day the earth heals itself and Community fulfills its destiny, people take solace in something more immediate—dangerball. But when Will 14 and his team prove themselves formidable opponents in the governmental tournament, they find there’s much more at stake than a simple game.
