TEDx Speaker Daniel García Ordaz, a.k.a. The Poet Mariachi, a singer-songwriter, teacher and author from Mission, Texas, is a Navy veteran and a 2018 Pushcart Prize nominee. García serves as 2023 McAllen Poet Laureate. He earned an MFA in Creative Writing from UTRGV and is working on a Ph.D. in Language, Diversity, and Literacy Studies at Texas Tech Unviersity.
