At the Mountains of Madness

2007

Scientists from Massachusetts' Miskatonic University set out on an expedition to uncharted regions of the Antarctic continent. There, the expedition meets tragedy and its survivors uncover cosmic horrors beyond all measure. Lovecraft considered At the Mountains of Madness to be his best and most ambitious story. One of his longest tales, this story languished for more than five years before it was first published in Astounding Stories magazine. Our old-time radio adaptation features a cast of professional actors, exciting sound effects and a thrilling original musical score by Troy Sterling Nies (composer for The Call of Cthulhu). Sit down, dim the lights, fire up the wireless and enjoy 77 minutes of exciting Lovecraftian drama, suspense and cosmic horror.

The Shadow over Innsmouth

2008

A young man's travels in search of antiquarian architecture and his own family history brings him to the ill-regarded Massachusetts town of Innsmouth. There he uncovers horrors beyond his worst imaginings, barely escaping with his life and sanity. Lovecraft wrote the story in 1931 after a visit to Newburyport and the surrounding region. Long considered one of Lovecraft's most popular tales, the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre edition brings it to life in all its monstrous and malodorous glory. This old-time radio adaptation features a cast of more than a dozen professional actors, exciting sound effects and a thrilling original musical score by Troy Sterling Nies (composer for The Call of Cthulhu). Sit down, dim the lights, fire up the wireless and enjoy 77 minutes of exciting Lovecraftian drama, suspense and cosmic horror.

The Colour Out of Space

2013

The impact of a meteorite on a remote Massachusetts farm unleashes a strange and disturbing series of events. Before men of science from Miskatonic University can determine what it is, the space rock apparently evaporates. But terrible changes overtake the farm and its inhabitants, propelling them on a horrific course of desolation, madness, and death. The sole surviving witness to the events unwinds a chilling and disturbing tale of cosmic horror. The Colour Out of Space was Lovecraft's personal favorite of his own stories, and one of which he was justly proud. It is one of the best embodiments of the principles of the weird tale that Lovecraft lays out in his essay "Supernatural Horror in Literature,"for the Colour itself is unknowable and remains almost entirely unexplained. The Colour is a chillingly effective symbol for our perilously limited understanding of the vast cosmos beyond our solar system. The Dark Adventure Radio Theatre adaptation retains this feeling of cosmic menace, and adds a poignant human touch with its dramatization of what happens to the Gardner family and their neighbors, beautifully played by our talented professional cast, and underscored with haunting music by Troy Sterling Nies. It's a great weird tale made even better!

Howard Phillips Lovecraft, of Providence, Rhode Island, was an American author of horror, fantasy and science fiction. Lovecraft's major inspiration and invention was cosmic horror: life is incomprehensible to human minds and the universe is fundamentally alien. Those who genuinely reason, like his protagonists, gamble with sanity. Lovecraft has developed a cult following for his Cthulhu Mythos, a series of loosely interconnected fictions featuring a pantheon of human-nullifying entities, as well as the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire of magical rites and forbidden lore. His works were deeply pessimistic and cynical, challenging the values of the Enlightenment, Romanticism and Christianity. Lovecraft's protagonists usually achieve the mirror-opposite of traditional gnosis and mysticism by momentarily glimpsing the horror of ultimate reality. Although Lovecraft's readership was limited during his life, his reputation has grown over the decades. He is now commonly regarded as one of the most influential horror writers of the 20th Century, exerting widespread and indirect influence, and frequently compared to Edgar Allan Poe. — Wikipedia
