Dave Schoonover is an award-winning photographer, an award-winning educator, a former champion athlete, a musician more passionate than competent, and a pretty good husband. Born in Honolulu, he spent most of his life in California. After working in publishing and public relations, he spent nearly thirty years as a firefighter before retiring to Maui in 2009. He and his wife live in a house six minutes from the beach, with one mango tree, two cats, and a plethora of tropical flowers and geckos. KAPU is his first published novel.
