David Carter was born and raised in Hamilton, New Zealand where he currently resides with the love of his life. He is the third of four siblings. He works full-time while juggling his loves for writing, vexillology, distance running, and travelling. He was raised as a Seventh Day Adventist, but left the church in his early twenties to seek answers for himself - ultimately leading to the writing of his debut thriller novel in the Blaze series: From The Shadows.
