David Iseminger grew up in Washington state, with a loving family in a nice suburban setting. That idyllic childhood was interrupted shortly after elementary school, when his mother died and his father became incapacitated. He and his siblings were separated, living with other families or striking out on their own. At one point he was homeless and penniless, but unwilling to give up or become some sad statistic. He pushed on, made the best of things, and went to the University of Washington where his love of reading and books steered him to a degree in English and Comparative Literature. He taught himself technology and programming, then went to Microsoft and specialized in networking technologies. He started as a Network Performance analyst, digging into the the network and operating system to figure out how to make them run faster. Always a writer, he wrote his first technology book, Inside Windows NT Infrastructures, shortly after joining Microsoft. He followed that with many more, including one ...for Dummies book, and was creator/series editor for a Windows programming reference series. He also authored three online networking courses, now syndicated in thousands of institutions across the world, and has taught more than 10,000 students. He had many roles at Microsoft, most of them in the Server & Cloud division. Today David is a technology consultant, online teacher, education advocate, and novelist.
