David Feldman joined the faculty at College of the Atlantic in 1998, having completed a PhD in Physics at the University of California, Davis. Prior to graduate school Dave received a BA in Physics from Carleton College and then taught high school math and physics for several years. At COA Dave has taught over twenty different courses in physics, mathematics, and computer science. He served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 2003-2007. From 2006-2009, Dave was the Co-Director of the Beijing Complex Systems Summer School, Sponsored by the Santa Fe Institute in cooperation with The Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2011-12 Dave was a U.S. Fulbright Lecturer in Rwanda, where he served as a visiting professor of applied physics at the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology. Dave is a theoretical and computational physicist whose research interests lie in the fields of statistical mechanics and nonlinear dynamics. He is the author of "Chaos and Fractals: An Elementary Introduction," Oxford University Press (2012), a textbook for non-science majors. This book is based on a course he has taught at College of the Atlantic for over a decade.
