I graduated from Georgia Southern with a degree in history and an interest in genealogy. Book One of "I Sing a Song of Ages Past" series is an intertwining of my family's lives to events during the Renaissance. In this series, the Mellichamp family is traced from 1590s to 1975. Through counterfeiting, religious wars, colonial America, the Revolutionary War, plantations, slavery, the Civil War, they gained fame and notoriety, but also suffered poverty and loss. And survived it all. Irritated, then exasperated, David's wife finally persuaded him to write about history by relating stories based on his research discoveries. In my original series, I started "The Chasseen Legends" trilogy after reading a newspaper headline about the last volcanic eruption in France in 4040BC. Volcanoes in France? Months past and other questions rumbled through my mind. Could someone have witnessed that eruption? A little internet investigating confirmed it. The next question – who? – took seven years of research. I always wanted to write about the origin of things. Who started civilization in Europe? Who built the first villages? Why? While reading the latest archaeological briefs, I realized these were real people - not cave dwellers or simple-minded people - they would never have survived. Life 6000 years ago turned out to be quite interesting. Find me at DavidWilliamAllman.com.
