Jen Madden, advertising copywriter and amateur sleuth, specialises in solving sex crimes. When the body almost falls on top of her, she doesn’t want to know. Then she's hired by a female tycoon who wants her to investigate the relationships of a beautiful lesbian—the cult leader's sister. Jen joins the cult looking for a female killer with an unusual tattoo that will require much sexual activity to locate. As she throws her body into the task, other bodies pile up—from severed heads to women with their faces burned by acid. On the way she becomes a mole, investigating the cult for the police. Then her cover is blown and she's in line for the next acid facial. Eventually only Jen knows all the twists of the game and, by being economical with the truth, gets everything she wants, including a fate worse than creeping death for the killer.
