The original one-shot for Death Note, a young boy finds the note and struggles with whether to use it or not. Many of the ideas in this were carried over into the full series, but there are some interesting differences.

The Death Note One-Shot Special was serialized in a 2008 volume of Weekly Jump, and explains what happens in the series three years after the Kira case is resolved.
