
Demet Divaroren was born in her mother’s childhood home in Adana, Turkey. She migrated to Australia with her family when she was six months old and grew up on the outskirts of Melbourne. Her debut novel Living on Hope Street won the 2018 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award’s Prize for Writing for Young Adults and was shortlisted in the 2018 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Young Adult fiction. Demet is the co-editor of CBCA shortlisted anthology Growing Up Muslim in Australia (A&U) that provides different snapshots of Muslim life, dispelling myths and labels and celebrating diversity. She is represented by Curtis Brown Literary Agents.
