
Derya Kurt was born in Izmir, Turkey, on May 23, 1990. She, specializing in Political Science and International Relations in the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. She participate in the AFS program at Royal Holloway University of London. Eager to gain practical experience in her chosen field, she undertook internships with the United Nations in their Istanbul offices and at the New York headquarters. As her academic pursuits bore fruit, Derya embarked on a transformative year-long global odyssey, which would leave an indelible mark on her perspective. This journey allowed her to explore her burgeoning passion for connecting with diverse cultures, embracing the unfamiliar, and venturing beyond her comfort zone. It was a chapter of self-discovery that would set the stage for her future endeavors. Upon returning to her homeland, Derya ventured into a completely different sphere, immersing herself in the dynamic world of the tourism industry. Her career kicked off as a spa manager, where she developed valuable skills in assessing complex situations, analyzing character dynamics, and navigating intricate storylines. During this time, she also discovered her latent talent for storytelling. This pivotal moment ushered in a new chapter in her life as Derya wholeheartedly embraced a career in writing. Her writing journey was characterized by an ardent desire to delve into and comprehend the distinct identities of Eastern and Western cultures. Her unique talent lies in her ability to seamlessly blend historical and cultural realities with the fabric of fictional narratives, thereby providing fresh and insightful perspectives on storytelling. In this vein, she devoted three years of painstaking work to craft her debut novella, "The Red Bus Odyssey," in 2023, a testament to her dedication and creative prowess.
